We’ve welcomed our newest intake of apprentices and cadets into our ranks.

But before they start work at our sugar mills in the Burdekin and Herbert regions, the 23 apprentices and three cadets complete a two-week Safe Start program at the Burdekin TAFE campus in Home Hill.

The program sets our recruits up for a safe and successful transition into the heavy manufacturing sector by training them in such things as safe manual handling techniques, fire safety awareness, electrical hazard awareness and the safe use of hand tools, power tools, thermal cutters and welders.

Our 2022 apprenticeship intake includes 11 other recruits who started work at our Proserpine Mill, Plane Creek Mill and Sarina BioEthanol Distillery in December last year.

Several more first-year apprentices will start with us over the coming months, bringing the total 2022 intake to 41.
